Possibly a Marmalade hoverfly, but it just doesn't look right!!
A Red Soldier Beetle and a wasp sp.!!
An interesting Fly, which turns out to be a Tachina fera
Certainly one I've not come across before.

Lots of Hoverflies and Flies
A quick walk around a very windy Stratton Wood today. Not too many butterflies but lots of Red Soldier Beetles, hoverflies and flies on the umbellifers and ragwort. Quite a few to identify, but here is a selection of images from today.
Quite a few Gatekeepers around along with a few Meadow Browns, Large Whites, Large Skippers and Small Skippers.
Lots of hoverflies about including this male Long hoverfly (Sphaerophoria scripta). Also about was what I think was a Dasysyrphus tricinctus hoverfly, which took off before I could ID properly.
