Finches Galore

A quick visit to Barbury Castle, on the off-chance there might be a Short-eared Owl. Unfortunately not but more than compensated with at least 10 Brambling in amongst 20+ Chaffinches, Greenfinches and Yellowhammers at this location Here.

Also great views of a male Kestrel that worked its way down the track looking for prey from the posts as opposed to hovering!

The Yellowhammer

A male Chaffinch, a lot pinkier than the Brambling and slightly smaller in size.

Two Greenfinches male below, possibly a juvenile above
