Mud Glorious Mud

Day 5 and the sludge is still coming out of the pool. Sadly it looks like the funding stops this Wednesday and then it's the big clean up as Land and Water pack up and move on to their next job.

The Logo of Land and Water.

A messy job, but its working as tons of silt is dredged up and taken away.

Speaking to site manager I had the sense that it would take months to clear all the silt out. Unfortunately the funding only goes so far, but at least for a few years to come there will be a noticeable difference with the work that they have accomplished.

One of the sad things they noted was the amount of rubbish thrown in, which in a lot of cases had to have been brought there by vehicle and then tossed in. The last time the pool had a big clear out was over 30 years ago, so you can just imagine how much rubbish was in the pool, and because of lack of more funds will remain at the bottom of the pool.

Four drake Mallard on top of the weir.

Highlights with the wildlife around the pool today were 5 Blackcaps, 3 Chiffchaffs, a Treecreeper, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker and 5 Moorhens.
