More of the Same

With the flowers on the Purple Loosestrife almost finished, a lot of insects are now moving onto the Buddleia. This afternoon a few Drone Flies were present, along with my favourite hoverfly, the Volucella zonaria.

I'm not sure if this is the same one or not, that's been coming into the garden recently, but its right eye has been damaged. Whatever happened to it, it doesn't seem to be effecting its vision, as it flew around the bush and landed perfectly onto the flowers.

Seems unperturbed

Quite a dent!

Other visitors were a Shieldbug, but before I could identify it, as it landed on the upper branches, it disappeared into the heart of the Buddleia. Not many butterflies now with just 1 Red Admiral and 2 Small Whites.
